The unfinished business tour

We surveyed every corner of ShiftSee for loose ends, ranked what we found, and shipped the first wave the same day. Password recovery on the web, honest messaging errors, crash-proof earnings displays, stronger passwords, and a pile of hardening.

Every product accumulates loose ends. A button that was wired "later". An error that gets swallowed instead of shown. A rule enforced in nine places but not the tenth. Individually they are small. Together they are the difference between software you trust and software you tolerate.

So we did something a little unusual today: we surveyed the entire platform, the API, the website, and the upcoming mobile app, hunting specifically for unfinished work. Then we ranked everything we found by how much it matters, and shipped the first wave of fixes the same day.

The one you will notice first

The "Forgot password?" button on the sign-in page now works. Tap it, get a code by email or text, choose a new password, done. If you have ever been locked out and had to ask us for help, this one is for you.

New passwords now need at least 8 characters too. Short passwords are the single easiest way for an account to get taken over, and we would rather stop that at the door.

Errors should be loud

We found a handful of places where failures were silent. The worst offender: a message that failed to send would simply vanish. No notice, no retry, just gone. Now every messaging failure tells you what happened and keeps your draft so you can try again.

The same philosophy applied elsewhere: push notification delivery is now recorded truthfully on our side, so when someone says "I never got the alert", we can see exactly what happened instead of guessing.

Teammates are first-class

If you help manage a business through a linked account or as an invited teammate, the newest business tools (worker invites, job posts, application review) now recognize your access exactly like the rest of the platform. That inconsistency is gone.

And the quiet stuff

Crash-proof money and rating displays. Rate limits extended to the last two sign-in endpoints that lacked them. Error monitoring wired into the platform. Stricter automated checks that every future release must pass before it can ship.

The backlog we built today does not stop here. The next waves are already ranked: posting shifts straight from the website, real-time updates in the upcoming mobile app, and the release that finally replaces our aging iOS and Android apps. Watch this space.
