Using the messaging center

How direct messages, the request gate, and human support work on ShiftSee.

The Messages icon at the top of every authed page opens your inbox.

Three tabs

  • All — every active conversation
  • Pinned — your starred threads, sorted top
  • Requests — first-time messages from people you're not yet connected to or haven't worked with

How a thread starts

You can DM anyone you're already connected to (T5) or have worked with (T4). For everyone else, your first message lands in their Requests tab. They accept, the thread becomes a normal conversation. They archive, you can't follow up. We do this so unsolicited cold messages don't drown your real conversations.

Per-message attribution

When a business teammate replies on behalf of the business (e.g. the GM acts as the brand), each message shows who actually wrote it on a small line under the brand name. So you always know which human is talking to you.

Read receipts

A single ✓ means we delivered the message. A double ✓✓ means the other side has read up to that point.

Talking to a human at ShiftSee

Open the AI helper in the bottom-right of any page. If the AI can't answer or you'd rather talk to a person, tap Talk to a human → in the chat. The conversation continues in your Messages with a teammate from ShiftSee Support. They see the full AI history when they join, so you don't have to repeat yourself.

Privacy

Messages between users are private. ShiftSee staff can review conversations only when responding to a support escalation or investigating a trust-and-safety issue, and every such read is logged.
