A pending connection request sits with the receiver until they accept or decline. There's no auto-expiration.
Why hasn't it been accepted?
- They missed the notification. Push and email are best-effort; in-app is the source of truth.
- They're traveling or off-platform.
- They're considering it.
- They forgot.
What to do
- Send a polite Messages note. Even unconnected, you can send a single Request-tab message that they'll see. "Hey, just sent a connection request, hope it works for you" is enough.
- In person: the QR scan path is faster than the request path when you're physically at the business.
- Cancel — open the request from your dashboard and click Cancel. The request is removed from the receiver's queue.
How long should I wait?
A week is a fair window. After that, cancel and try the QR path or move on.
They declined — can I retry?
Yes, after a 24-hour cool-down. The system blocks immediate retries to avoid spam. Send a Messages note before retrying so they know it's a follow-up.
